1. What We Collect

FuelPath collects only what is necessary to show you nearby fuel prices:

• Device location (GPS) — used in real time to find fuel stations near you and calculate distances. Your coordinates are rounded to approximately 1 km precision before being sent to FuelPath's server. They are never stored, never logged, and discarded immediately after the response. Location is never shared with third parties in an identifiable form.
• App preferences — your selected fuel type, search radius, favourite stations, and dark-mode setting are stored locally on your device using Android's SharedPreferences. This data never leaves your device.
• Price alert settings — stored locally on your device only.
• Outage reports (if enabled) — if you report that a fuel station is out of stock, three pieces of data are sent to FuelPath's server: an anonymous device identifier (a random ID generated on first install — not linked to your hardware), the station code, and the fuel type reported as unavailable. The device identifier is immediately one-way hashed (SHA-256) on the server and the original value is never stored. Reports are automatically deleted after 24 hours. This data is used solely to inform other drivers which stations may be low on fuel. No personal information is collected through outage reports.

2. Data We Do Not Collect

• Name, email, phone number or any contact information
• Account credentials (there is no account system)
• Payment information (in-app purchases are handled entirely by Google Play)
• Browsing history or activity outside of FuelPath
• Device identifiers used for tracking across apps

3. Third-Party Services

FuelPath uses the following third-party services, each with their own privacy practices:

• OpenStreetMap — provides map tiles for the interactive map feature. Tile requests are made to OpenStreetMap servers when you view the map. See the OpenStreetMap Privacy Policy for details.
• OpenChargeMap — provides EV charging station data when you use the EV Stations feature. Your approximate location is sent to OpenChargeMap to retrieve nearby stations. See OpenChargeMap's Privacy Policy.
• Australian state fuel price APIs — your GPS coordinates are used to query nearby fuel stations via the FuelPath backend API. Coordinates are used only to filter results and are not logged or retained.

4. Fuel Price Data

Fuel prices are sourced from official Australian government and industry APIs (Queensland, NSW, South Australia, Western Australia). FuelPath acts as a display layer for this public data — we do not create, modify, or sell fuel price information. Cached fuel price data is stored locally on your device for offline access and is automatically replaced when a new fetch succeeds, or deleted when you clear the app's data via Android Settings.

5. Children's Privacy

FuelPath is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

6. Data Security

All communication between FuelPath and our servers uses HTTPS. Device-local data (preferences, favourites) is stored using Android's standard secure storage mechanisms. We do not store personal data on our servers.

7. Your Rights

Since FuelPath does not collect personally identifiable information, there is no personal data to access, correct, or delete. You can clear all locally stored app data at any time by uninstalling the app or clearing app data in your Android device settings.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Updates will be posted at this URL with a revised "Last updated" date. Continued use of the app after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
